While in Chicago, she worked on and served as editor in chief of \u003cem\u003eThe Chicago Review\u003c\/em\u003e. She taught English at Loyola University of Chicago (1968-71) and at the University of Rochester (1971-6) before directing the Academic Advising Center at the University of Iowa (1982-2000). Her poems, essays, and reviews appeared in a variety of periodicals and anthologies, including \u003cem\u003eThe Yale Review\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eThe Paris Review\u003c\/em\u003e, Studies in English Literature, and Isotope. Several of her radio plays were performed on the Iowa Radio Project, which aired on fifty NPR stations (1992).
