He earned degrees in Physics (1982) and Mathematics (1995) at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), and a Ph.D. in Physics (1984) at UCM. A Fulbright Scholar at Princeton University (1985-87), he has taught at the Universities of Minnesota and Waterloo and at UCM, where he is a Full Professor since 2009. Author of over 90 scientific papers, he has supervised four Ph.D. theses and led ten research projects.
