A rehabilitation center for alcoholics and drug addicts.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI had no idea what I had in store for me but having been in Marine Corp\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eboot camp over twenty years prior, I prepared mentally for the journey before\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eme. My experiences throughout my life had been rooted in heartache, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003edisappointments and anger. I resented many people around me. I continued\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eplaying over and over in my mind my regrets, past failures and feelings of not\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ebeing enough to those I loved.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eUpon exiting Hanley, I surrendered. I fully surrendered to life, to control, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand to the only One who dictated the obstacles and blessings that would\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ecome my way, I surrendered to God.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI took a two-year hiatus traveling throughout the country, discovering endless\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003epossibilities and a far different way of living. I learned to fully love myself, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewhich, without that, I would have stayed paralyzed and stuck in regret, frozen\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ein fear for the rest of my life.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI learned about the power of our thoughts, the importance of being present\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eand the need to find fulfillment in life. I became an expert in communication\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eskills and relationships and became aware that most of us don't even see a\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eglimpse of what is possible and attainable in them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI learned that where you focus your attention, your energy and emotions in\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eyour life attach to that. What I also discovered, along the way, was my\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003epurpose for living, my passion, the one thing that sets my soul on fire.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI became aware of my lifelong love affair with people, with watching people\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eglow and helping people grow. I learned that every single individual is born\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewith certain inherent gifts given to them by their Creator, that they are graced\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ewith, that are uniquely theirs. It is their mission in life to discover what that\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eis and gift it to the world. I learned the value of serving my fellow man and\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ebeing a giver rather than a taker in every opportunity presented.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEvery experience I share with you in this book, my memoir, has made me\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethe man I am today. There is nothing that has occurred or happened to me\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ethat was an accident or a mistake.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn my journey, it was through the virtues of faith, hope and love that\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eovercame and conquered any and all obstacles and hardships that I had ever\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eendured. I now spend my life giving unto others as an empowerment coach, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003elife guide and strategist; to explore with anyone who I have been blessed with\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003etheir presence, with the opportunity to jointly find what it is holding them\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eback from having the breakthroughs in life they are destined to discover.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e I have completely reshaped my physical body, as well as my emotional, spiritual, and mental makeup. I have\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eovercome obesity, alcoholism, divorce, heartache, depression, anxiety, as well\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eas, suicidal thoughts and desires. I may not know the hardships that some of\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eyou are going through, but I understand what it feels like to feel hopeless, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003ealone and afraid.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe transformation process was a long journey, but the end result has given\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eme a whole new perspective in life. In doing so, I have become a better man, \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003efriend, father and human being.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy test has become my testimony.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEverything you desire in your life is there for the taking if you can get out of\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eyour own way.
