Mae Jemison was the first Black woman to go to space. She is an astronaut, doctor, engineer, writer, teacher, and dancer. Her adventurous spirit has taken her from healing people around the world, to dancing on stage, to orbiting the earth on the space shuttle Endeavour. In all her work, she inspires others to follow their curiosity, believe in themselves, and reach for the stars. After watching The Little Mermaid on the big screen at age five, she discovered a passion for drawing (and becoming a mermaid). Some years after obtaining a BA and Graphic Design degree from Illinois State University, she began to realize her real passion was illustration. When she's not drawing, she loves reading, taking care of her plants, watching scary movies, and spending time with her two children, her husband, and their dog Donut.

Number of Pages: 42

Dimensions: 0.4 x 8.4 x 6.1 IN

Publication Date: January 01, 2025
