Man was created to lead his family and have rule over all of God's creation. His wife was created to help him in this mission (Genesis 2:18). Marriage was a covenant that was meant for life. Divorce was not designed in the beginning (Matthew 19:8). God joined the two people into one flesh. Man should not separate what God joined together (Matthew 19:6). This was the main message. That is why Paul said, woman is not to separate, and man is not to divorce (1 Corinthians 7:10-11). The only time we should use the exception clause is if our unbelieving spouse has already left the marriage (1 Corinthians 7:15). Believers should not and ought not to divorce one another.
