Although passionate about her chosen career, the young veterinarian faces real obstacles when it comes to balancing the traditions of her Navajo grandmother and the modern demands of her job. Claffey does not overlook the element of romance in the story. He graduated in 1958 and became a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. In civilian life he worked in investment securities and banking and began writing for publication in 1981.
