When she and her husband were both facing serious medical issues, Heimsoth realized that she could help those going through similar situations by providing hope through her writing. This realization resulted in an online blog with several comments that has turned into this inspiring book of poetry. Together, Heimsoth and her husband have raised three wonderful children. She taught high school French and English and has worked as a tutor and an adult education French teacher. She then had a fifteen-year career in a large corporation, becoming the company's Assistant Vice President of Training.
