Gjerdingen addresses the relation between the realization of partimenti and contrapuntal thinking, illustrated by examples of contrapuntal imitation and combination in partimenti, leading to the \"partimentofugue.\" Sanguinetti elaborates on the history of this partimentofugue from the early eighteenth until the late nineteenth century.
