Frank Sexton was born in 1952 in Southwestern Ontario, earned a Bachelor's degree in 1975 from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master's degree from Carleton University a couple of years later. After university, he enjoyed a successful 32-year career as a civil servant before retiring and taking up writing as a passionate hobby. His other life hobbies have included playing chess and photography. In chess, Sexton reached the national master's level before career demands forced him to abandon the game.
