It remains out primary authority on both the Armenian geo-political worldview, and also the historical geography of the middle-east in general. The Greek sources which Ananias is claiming to draw from, Pappus of Alexandria, and Ptolemy himself, are clearly augmented from his own, now lost, native Armenian sources.
