The author states that de novo conditions do not necessarily have a genetic basis but are the result of a peculiar set of environmental factors that converge at a specific time in history. As diets change a new set of inflammatory and angiogenic nutritional substances are introduced that have the potential to generate a new condition. In this book, the author explores how changes in diet can inhibit or progress the condition, lipoedema.
