She started working as a beautician when the family moved to Sheffeld in 1947; the family then lived successively in Broomhill, Crosspool and Fullwood (that area known as Hallam - Sheffield West). She continued working as a beautician and also teaching elocution, having obtained higher qualifications in both domains in London.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAmongst other things she was a member of the Hallamshire singers.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShe later discovered her talent for poetry, these poems having been written between 1986 and 1988.
