Yes. Once a book is in your Shopify store, you can edit the description, adjust the price, change tags, update images, and customize the listing however you like. BooksCloud doesn't lock your product content after import.
What You Can Edit Freely
Product Description
The publisher synopsis BooksCloud imports is your starting point, not a permanent fixture. You can rewrite it, add to it, format it differently, or replace it entirely in the Shopify product editor. Many merchants add their own voice, editorial commentary, or audience-specific framing to descriptions — "This is the book we recommend to every client starting their fitness journey" reads differently than a generic publisher blurb.
Your custom description edits are preserved even as BooksCloud continues to sync price and availability in the background.
Product Price
You can manually override the price on any individual book in Shopify, regardless of your Price Adjuster setting. If you want to price a popular title differently from your standard markup — as a loss leader, a featured deal, or a premium bundle price — just edit the price directly in Shopify.
Note: if BooksCloud's cost price for a book changes (which it can, as publisher prices shift), your Shopify price will update automatically based on your Price Adjuster multiplier — unless you've manually overridden it. Manual price overrides may need to be revisited if underlying costs change significantly.
Tags, Collections, Images, Metafields
All standard Shopify product fields are editable. You can add your own tags, move the product into specific collections, update SEO fields, or add additional images.
What BooksCloud Updates Automatically
BooksCloud does continue to manage a few things in the background:
- Price — If the publisher cost changes, your listed price adjusts via your markup multiplier (unless manually overridden).
- Availability — If a book goes out of print, BooksCloud hides it from your store automatically.
- Cover image — Publisher cover images may update if a new edition is issued.
The Bottom Line
Think of BooksCloud's import as a head start, not a constraint. You get a fully populated listing on day one, and you can customize any part of it from there. Your edits stick — the only things that auto-update are price (based on publisher cost) and stock status.
