Can I Sell Books Through BooksCloud if My Store Is on WooCommerce or BigCommerce Instead of Shopify?

This is one of the most common questions from merchants who discover BooksCloud but are already running their store on a different platform. The direct answer: no. BooksCloud is a Shopify-exclusive application. It does not currently integrate with WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, or any other e-commerce platform.

Why BooksCloud Is Shopify-Only

BooksCloud is built and distributed through the Shopify App Store, operated by splitShops, Inc. The entire architecture of the product - catalog sync, order routing, fulfillment communication, tracking updates - is built specifically around Shopify's API and infrastructure. The connection between your store and BooksCloud's fulfillment backend is native to Shopify's ecosystem.

This is not an unusual situation. Many of the most capable dropshipping apps in the book and general merchandise space are Shopify-native. The Shopify App Store gives developers a consistent, well-documented platform to build on, and it gives merchants a trusted, vetted source for installing third-party integrations. The trade-off is that those integrations only work inside that ecosystem.

WooCommerce and BigCommerce both have their own strengths, but BooksCloud has not built integrations for either platform, and there is no workaround or unofficial connector that would allow the app to function outside of Shopify.

What If You Already Have a WooCommerce or BigCommerce Store?

If you have an existing store on another platform and want to use BooksCloud, you have two main paths:

Option 1 - Add a Shopify store alongside your existing store. Shopify Basic is approximately $39/month. You could run a separate Shopify storefront specifically for book sales while keeping your existing store for other product categories. This is a more complex operation but some merchants find it worth it depending on their catalog mix.

Option 2 - Migrate to Shopify. If books are going to be a significant part of your business and you are still in early stages with your current platform, migrating to Shopify may be the cleaner long-term move. BooksCloud's product catalog sync, Bulk Sync automation, and order flow are deeply integrated with Shopify in ways that make it the natural home for this kind of book dropshipping operation.

The Premade Store Option

For merchants who are not yet on any platform at all, BooksCloud offers a $1,500 premade Shopify store - a fully built Shopify store with all 2M+ books already loaded, ready to go. This is a one-time fee that gets you a store configured and populated from day one, without needing to set up Shopify from scratch or manually sync the catalog. Note that this fee covers store setup, not marketing - driving traffic to the store is still your responsibility.

Starting on Shopify From Scratch

If you are evaluating platforms and book dropshipping is your primary focus, Shopify is the clear choice for BooksCloud compatibility. The combination of Shopify's storefront tools, BooksCloud's 2M+ title catalog, and Bulk Sync's automated catalog management is purpose-built for this business model in a way that no multi-platform workaround can replicate.

"One of the easiest apps ever to integrate with Shopify. Game changer for anyone who wants to add books to their store."

The platform limitation is real and worth knowing upfront. But for merchants who are willing to work within Shopify's ecosystem, BooksCloud offers a genuinely powerful set of tools that are difficult to replicate elsewhere.
