Do I Need to Manually Send Tracking Numbers to Customers or Does BooksCloud Handle That?

No manual work required. BooksCloud automatically pushes tracking information back to Shopify as soon as an order ships, and Shopify handles the customer notification from there. The entire tracking loop is automated.

How Tracking Works End to End

Here's what happens after a customer orders a book from your store:

1. Order placed — BooksCloud receives it automatically via Shopify.

2. 24-hour hold — The order sits in hold status. No tracking yet.

3. Fulfillment begins — After 24 hours, the order is submitted to BooksCloud's fulfillment network.

4. Book ships — Once the book is packed and handed to USPS, BooksCloud receives a tracking number.

5. Tracking sent to Shopify — BooksCloud pushes the tracking number back to the Shopify order automatically.

6. Customer notified — Shopify sends your store's standard "Your order has shipped" email with the tracking link.

You don't touch any part of steps 4–6. It's fully automated.

What the Customer Receives

Your customer gets Shopify's native shipping notification email — branded with your store's name and email template — containing their USPS tracking number and a link to track their package. From the customer's perspective, it looks just like any other order they've placed online.

If you've customized your Shopify notification emails (with your logo, brand colors, custom copy), those customizations apply here too. The fact that BooksCloud is fulfilling the order behind the scenes is invisible to the customer.

What If Tracking Stalls?

If USPS tracking shows no movement for 15 days on a correctly addressed order, BooksCloud will reship the order. This is a protection built into their fulfillment policy, separate from your responsibility as a merchant.

Do You Need to Monitor Tracking?

You don't need to proactively check tracking on every order. Shopify's order view will show the fulfillment status and tracking number once it's been pushed. If a customer contacts you asking about their order, you can look it up in Shopify or in the BooksCloud admin at splitshops.com/manage.
