How to Find and Feature the Top 20 Bestsellers After a 10,000-Book Bulk Sync

You have just run a bulk sync and your Shopify store has thousands of book titles in it. That is great for breadth - but if you want to drive sales quickly, you need to surface the titles customers are most likely to recognize and buy. Scrolling through 10,000 listings manually is not a realistic way to find your top performers.

Here are the practical methods for identifying and featuring your best titles without the manual search.

Method 1 - Use BooksCloud's Bestseller Percentile Filter at Sync Time

The most efficient approach is to front-load the work before the sync runs. BooksCloud offers a bestseller percentile filter that limits your import to only titles that rank within a specified percentage of best-selling books in a category.

If you set the filter to the top 10%, a sync of a 10,000-title category will import only the roughly 1,000 titles with the strongest sales performance. If you set it to the top 1-2%, you are pulling in only the cream of the category - typically the books that appear on bestseller lists, have significant reader recognition, and convert at higher rates.

If you have already synced broadly without this filter, consider running a second targeted sync - or simply note this for your next re-sync. Applying the bestseller percentile filter retroactively means running the sync again with the tighter criteria.

Method 2 - Create a Dedicated "Bestsellers" Collection Using Tags

BooksCloud applies tags to imported products. If your sync used a bestseller percentile filter, those top-performing titles can be tagged accordingly. Check a few of your imported products in Shopify admin to see if BooksCloud applied any bestseller-specific tags.

If tags are present, create an automated Shopify collection using the bestseller tag as your condition (as described in the collection rules setup guide). This gives you a live "Bestsellers" collection that automatically updates as your catalog changes.

Method 3 - Sort an Existing Collection by Best Selling

If your store has been live for a while and has accumulated some sales data, Shopify's collection sort feature becomes useful. In your Shopify admin, go to any collection, click Sort, and select Best selling. Shopify will reorder the collection based on which products have generated the most sales in your store.

This requires actual sales history to be meaningful, so it is not useful on a brand-new store. But as your store matures, this becomes the most data-grounded way to surface your genuine top performers.

Method 4 - Manually Pin Your Featured Titles

For featuring a specific set of 20 books on your homepage or in a "Staff Picks" or "Featured" section - regardless of their bestseller status - Shopify allows you to manually pin products to the top of a collection.

To do this: open the collection in Shopify admin, change the sort order to Manually, then drag the titles you want to feature to the top positions. This gives you editorial control independent of sales data or tag filters.

If you are not sure which 20 titles to feature, cross-reference with external bestseller lists - the current New York Times bestseller list, Amazon's top sellers in your category, or trade publications like Publishers Weekly. Search for those specific titles in your Shopify product list, then pin them.

Method 5 - Run a Tighter Re-Sync

If your goal is to permanently trim your catalog to only proven bestsellers rather than just featuring a few prominently, the cleanest approach is to run a new bulk sync with a tight bestseller percentile filter. Delete or archive your current broad catalog, then re-import with the filter set to your desired threshold. This gives you a smaller, higher-quality catalog from the start rather than maintaining a large catalog with a featured subset on top.
