If I Bulk Sync a Category and Then Want to Remove Specific Titles, Can I Do That?

Yes. You have full control over which books remain in your store after a bulk sync. If a title comes in through the sync that you don't want to carry — wrong tone, off-brand topic, a title you'd rather not be associated with — you can remove it from your Shopify store.

How to Remove a Specific Title After Bulk Sync

1. Go to your Shopify Products panel.

2. Find the book you want to remove (search by title or filter by product type).

3. Open the product and click Delete product, or select it from the list and use the bulk action to delete.

The book is removed from your store. Customers can no longer see or purchase it.

Will the Sync Re-Add It?

This is the important question. The general behavior is that once you've deleted a product, the sync recognizes it has been removed and does not automatically re-add it. The dynamic sync is designed to add new books that weren't in your store before — not to restore books you've intentionally removed.

However, the most reliable way to prevent a specific title from coming back is to ensure your sync parameters (category, keyword filters, bestseller filters) naturally exclude it. If you find a particular type of book keeps appearing in syncs you don't want, refining your keyword filter is the most durable solution.

Managing Large Catalogs After Sync

For stores that bulk sync large categories, it's normal to do a one-time review after the initial sync and remove any titles that don't fit your brand. Set aside 30–60 minutes after your first big sync to scan the catalog and clean it up. After that initial review, the ongoing auto-add will bring in new books matching your filters, and occasional spot-checking keeps things tidy.

Can You Pause the Sync Without Removing Books?

The BooksCloud admin at splitshops.com/manage gives you controls over your sync settings. You can modify or stop a sync without it affecting books already in your store. Books that are already in your Shopify catalog stay there until you delete them — stopping a sync doesn't remove existing products.

The Bottom Line

Bulk sync is the fast path to a large catalog, and individual deletions are your tool for fine-tuning. You're never stuck with books you don't want — remove them from Shopify and move on.
