The Price Adjuster is BooksCloud's built-in pricing tool. It lives in the Settings section of the BooksCloud admin and lets you control how your books are priced relative to what BooksCloud charges you — all in one place, without touching individual product pages.
Where to Find It
After installing BooksCloud, navigate to Settings → Price Adjuster inside the BooksCloud dashboard. This is one of the first things you should configure before adding books to your store, since the pricing rules apply to all products you sync.
How It Works
The Price Adjuster works by applying a multiplier to BooksCloud's cost price for each book. The default multiplier is 1.25x, meaning if a book costs you $12.00, it will be listed in your store at $15.00.
You can adjust this multiplier up or down depending on your margin goals:
- 1.25x — The default. A modest markup that keeps prices competitive.
- 1.5x — Higher margin, still reasonable for specialty or niche stores.
- Custom — Set whatever multiplier fits your pricing strategy.
Should You Bake In Shipping?
BooksCloud charges a flat $7 per order for USPS fulfillment, which is charged to your account when an order goes to fulfillment. Many merchants choose to offer free shipping to customers and recover that $7 by building it into their product prices.
For example: if a book's BooksCloud cost is $10 and you want to offer free shipping, you might set your retail price at ($10 × 1.25) + $7 = $19.50. The Price Adjuster can help you account for this, or you can adjust prices individually if you prefer.
Does It Apply Retroactively?
If you change the Price Adjuster after you've already added books, the new multiplier will apply to books going forward. For books already in your store, you may need to re-sync or manually update prices. This is why it's worth setting your pricing rules before you do your initial import.
