You've installed BooksCloud and added your first books — great. But before your customers can actually find and buy them, there are a few things to confirm on the Shopify side. Here's a quick checklist of what to do immediately after your first import.
1. Confirm Products Are Set to "Active"
In Shopify, go to Products and check the status of your newly imported books. They should be set to Active — if any are set to Draft, customers won't be able to see them. Click into any Draft products and change their status to Active.
BooksCloud typically publishes books as Active by default, but it's worth a quick check on your first import.
2. Make Sure Your Shipping Profile Is Configured
This is the most common reason newly imported books can't be purchased: no shipping rate is set up for BooksCloud products.
Go to Shopify Settings → Shipping & Delivery → App shipping profiles → BooksCloud and confirm a shipping rate is enabled. Many merchants choose to offer free shipping (and bake the $7 BooksCloud fulfillment cost into product prices). Without a shipping rate, customers will reach checkout and see no shipping option available.
3. Add Books to a Collection
While your books will appear in your store's general product catalog, adding them to a dedicated collection (like "Books" or "Reading List" or your niche-specific name) makes them much easier for customers to browse.
In Shopify, go to Collections, create one if needed, and add your imported books to it. You can automate this using conditions (like "Product type = Book") if BooksCloud tags them consistently.
4. Verify the Price Adjuster Was Applied
Check the price on one of your newly imported books and make sure it reflects your intended markup. If you set up the Price Adjuster before importing, the prices should be correct. If you configured it after, you may need to re-sync or manually adjust.
5. Preview Your Store
Open your storefront and navigate to one of the new book listings. Confirm the cover image loads, the description reads well, and the "Add to Cart" button works. Place a test order if you want to see the full flow.
