A Light to Keep is the inspiring true story of the renovation of the Currituck Lighthouse, a guardian of the North Carolina Atlantic Coast. The book tells the story of different generations that have fallen in love with the historic structure and how they all responded when time and the changes of technology took their toll on the beloved lighthouse and its 1,000,000 bricks.

Author Biography

For author Diane Silcox Jarrett, A Light to Keep is her third non-fiction title for children. Fascinated by history from her childhood, she enjoys writing creative historical stories for young readers. Inspired by her audience, Diane is a substitute teacher as well as freelance and magazine writer. She lives outside Raleigh, North Carolina, with her family. Illustrator Carol Moates has devoted her life to painting and teaching art. In addition to having her own gallery, Uptown Artworks in Greensboro, NC, Carol teaches from her own studio and in a variety of other settings. She is one of the better known artists and instructors in the Piedmont of North Carolina, where she lives with her husband.
