Actors interviewed include Alec Guinness, Rex Harrison, Robert Stephens, Harry Andrews, and Margaret Tyzack, with notes from John Gielgud and an introduction by Peter Gill himself.

Author Biography

Lyn Haill is Head of Publications at the National Theatre. Her other books include Darkness Illuminated: Discussions on Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, Asking Around: A Handbook to the Hare Trilogy and In Rehearsal at the National. Peter Gill is a director and playwright. Formerly an associate director of the National Theatre, he was founding director of the National Theatre Studio and of the Riverside Studios.
