Antoine Tiron, who was a tutor in Antwerp, translated two of the best sacred comedies of the Renaissance into French: Josephus (1544) by Macropedius and Acolastus (1529) by Gnapheus. Although intended for scholarly reading, these translations reveal a remarkable sense of theatricality.
