Their friends keep vigil, even enlisting the help of a "seer" who provides hope but no immediate answers. Rescued and back in New Orleans, the dilemma of a promise unfolds. And though money is no object it takes courage, perseverance, luck, an ex-wife, and devoted friends to keep a secret while teaching a lost soul to live.

Author Biography

Houston Neal Gray was born on Coronado Island in San Diego, California. The product of a career navy family he has lived on the west coast, east coast, north, south, and an island in the Pacific (Kwajalein, Marshall Islands). After settling in New Orleans at 16 he left several times, once for ten years, but always returned. It is where he has spent the majority of his life and considers it home. The passion, food, and people of New Orleans inspire him and he can't imagine ever leaving. "If you're lucky you experience a life changing event that awakens you, causes you to see more clearly and take a chance." So it was for Houston after Hurricane Katrina. One year later he started writing Diverted, his first novel, thus fulfilling a dream he had since high school. He and his wife, Jo Ann, live in a house that looks out over the Mississippi River and offers views of great sunrises and equally great wine moment full moons.
