Du Pape - Paperback

by Joseph De Maistre (Author), Jules D' Ottange (Preface by)

In Du Pape, Joseph de Maistre deepens his counterrevolutionary political theories. Beyond being an apology of ultramontanism, this essay bases its argument on theological debates and history. The argument is buttressed by a powerful style that seduced Sainte-Beuve as well as Paul Valery.
