by Damian Quinn (Author), Norma Corkish (Foreword by), Dorothy Bishop

What if you understood everything in your mind-but struggled to get the words out?

In Finding a Voice, Damian Quinn shares his lived experience of growing up with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), a condition that affects how language is processed and expressed.

From childhood through adulthood, Damian describes the frustration of knowing exactly what he wanted to say, but finding it difficult to communicate clearly. Misunderstandings, isolation, and barriers to expression shaped much of his early life-but so did resilience, support, and determination.

With the help of organizations such as Afasic, Damian began to understand his condition and find ways to navigate a world built around communication that did not always work for him.

This memoir offers an honest and personal insight into life with a hidden communication disability.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great read!

I received my book this afternoon and finished it this evening. DLD and Damo's struggles growing up were fascinating and highly informative. It is sometimes an emotional read, especially when Damo talks about his feelings about failing his parents. Damo is an absolute delight to know, and I know his parents would be immensely proud of who he is today! I urge people to read this book and educate themselves on this fantastic job!

5.0 out of 5 stars. It is A most enjoyable and informative read.

This is the heart-warming story of Damian, who grew up with a Developmental Language Disorder. Damian, at an early age, was diagnosed with a Speech and Language Disorder.

Damian shares his experiences of living with a disability from his early childhood to his adult life, showing how having a disability has not stopped him from achieving great things in life and helping others with Speech and Language Disorders through the charity called Afasic.
