An astonishing story of a young Canadian geologist whose simple act of kindness to a stranger turns out to be the triggering action which has ramifications in the lives of many people on two continents. When some members of a Chinese tong try to intrude in some of these lives in the French village they find themselves coming to a surprising end of their schemes. Author Biography

Born in Leader, Saskatchewan Wally Kasper served as as a Lancaster bomber pilot in World War Two. Educated at the University of Toronto, and the London School of Economics, Wally taught for some years at St. Patrick's College, in Ottawa, before becoming involved in international aid and development. He has written a book about the days in the Royal Canadian Air Force and Bomber Command called, NIGHT OUT WITH THE BOYS, describing some of the nights over Germany. Two other novels have been recently published, THE SUCCESSION and FRENCH SAUCE. His book, A LETTER TO A NEW GRANDSON describes some of his experiences during World War 2. His poems and stories have appeared frequently in Canadian Magazines.
