In the wake of tragedy, Ruthanne Schneider and her mother-in-law, Naomi, pack up their lives in Southern Maryland and move cross country to the small town of Meridian, South Dakota where Naomi grew up. Their arrival causes quite a stir. Some are excited by Naomi's homecoming, like her barrel racing cousin, Emily, and her old friend Mason who has carried a torch for her all these years.
