Karl Rove, known as "Bush's Brain," is said to have stated he wanted to make the United States a one-party country. That became the goal of the Republican Party for the next 15 years. Yet 30 Republican-led states in the past few years have legislated voter-suppression laws in precincts which overwhelming vote Democratic, claiming the laws are to prevent voter fraud, of which there are virtually none. The culpability of conservative Republicans is inescapable as detailed in the book. The vote is the only viable weapon available to prevent the final destruction of the best governmental systems in world history. If plutocracy wins a firmer footing, one percent of our population will be ruling the rest of us -- without rescue in sight.
