Author Biography

Azary Messerer comes from a famous Plisetski-Messerer artistic family. His mother, Raisa Glezer, was a prominent musicologist in Russia. Upon his graduation from the College of Foreign Languages in Moscow, he became a radio journalist, interviewing many outstanding people, including the composers: Shostakovitch, Khachaturian, Britten, and the pianists: Ashkenazi, Ogden. He also worked in the newspaper "Za Rubezhom" and the magazine "Rovesnik."
After his immigration to the USA in 1981, he studied at NYU where he received his Ph.D. in Communication. Azary Messerer taught English as a second language and Russian Literature at FDR High School in Brooklyn.
He has lectured in a number of Universities, including Dartmouth, NYU and Boston University. Dr. Messerer was on the faculty of Touro College for almost 20 years.
His articles are regularly published in American, Russian, and Australian magazines.
