the Desert, who capture them and declare that no human may ever leave their domain. When

Shivers unleashes her hidden power, the two stage a daring escape filled with laser beams,

rocket carts, and narrow escapes. Their journey home becomes an epic chase across deserts,

rivers, forests, and oceans-thanks to quick thinking, teamwork, and one heroic camel. Back

safely on an airplane home, Jax and Shivers laugh about their ordeal, though they can't quite

shake the feeling that their adventure might not be over.

JAX AND SHIVERS AND THE PLANET OF THE OCTOPICKENS

Always picked last because of his clumsiness, Jax doubts his own abilities-until a badly

aimed kick sends him and his pet chicken, Shivers, tumbling into another world. Transported

to the Planet of the Octopickens, Jax meets extraordinary chicken-octopus creatures whose

many arms make them masters of throwing, catching, and juggling. When one of Jax's wild

kicks accidentally unleashes their greatest enemies-mini flying sharks-he must face chaos

head-on. Fighting alongside the Octopickens and guided by Shivers, Jax discovers confidence,

coordination, and courage he never knew he had. By the time they return home, Jax has learned

that belief in himself can change everything-on alien planets and on the playground.
