The author, Hisamatsu Sadamoto, previously wrote three other books on Japanese martial arts, under the name Sugawara Sadamoto. They were Gekken, Jujutsu and Kenbu, all published in 1898. This book has many interesting techniques that are not found in any other martial arts books from this period. It includes techniques for how to deal with intruders in your house as well as techniques showing how to fight multiple opponents armed with a variety of weapons, including sword and spear.
