by Lawrence Chalfin (Author)

Just Stories is about-just people, everyday people, dealing with circumstances that cross their paths and the resolutions they come to that may, or may not, move them forward in life. Enter the internal world of a four-year-old boy at World War II's end struggling to understand the person called father returning from his four years of combat in the Philippines. Meet two retired men, one of whom may have inside information on a horse race at Freehold Raceway and his attempts to have his friend join him there. Follow the soon-to-be thirteen-year-old boy in his determined effort to hold the hand of a girl as they watch the movie Psycho that has come to their town. And share in the author's remembrance of his encounter as a young boy with the legendary but aged Babe Ruth. In a naturalistic style, where less is perhaps more, the power of the human spirit is imagined in all its complexities. Passionate, subtle, psychologically crafted, and always touching, Just Stories with its authentic protagonists will leave you fulfilled, if not enlightened.
