La Indispensable Novena de Aguinaldos rescues the traditional Novena de Aguinaldos, with the original texts of Reverend Mother Maria Ignacia.

The Novena is a Catholic custom, rooted in Colombia for over 100 years, as a central part of the Christmas celebrations. It is similar, in essence, to the Posadas celebrated in Mexico and Central America. It is a series of prayers recited during the nine days leading up to Christmas (aguinaldos).

Beyond the Catholic tradition, the novena de aguinaldos is a large social event around the Nativity, where families, friends, work colleagues and even neighbours gather around a nativity scene that bucolically depicts the birth of the Christ child. The tradition is accompanied by the singing of Christmas carols, and the sharing of traditional Colombian Christmas dishes.

The Indispensable Novena de Aguinaldos also includes the most beloved Christmas carols in Spanish and English.

Author Biography

Sergio J. Lievano is a Swiss-Anglo-Colombian artist brought up in the surroundings of the fresh, natural environment of his family's Hacienda, a coffee plantation high up in the Andes. Sergio started as an Economist, and worked as such in the Fragrance industry for more than 12 years. He also studied Comics and Illustrations at the Joso Comic School in Barcelona, where he developed his illustration and graphical talents. Sergio has published 8 books: 6 in Switzerland and 2 in Colombia. He is author of Colombia a comedy of errors, Hoi your Swiss German survival guide, and Switzerland a cartoon survival guide, among others.
