In the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness lives a young brown bear cub who overcomes difficulties and learns how to treat other bears with respect.

Author Biography

Daniel works as a wilderness naturalist guide in Alaska's Katmai National Park during the summer and helps children with special needs at Paul Banks Elementary school the rest of the year. Daniel spent much of the last two summers guiding film crews as they filmed the recent Disney Nature movie "Bears" in Katmai National Park. Katmai National Park has one of the highest concentrations of brown bears in the world and people come from all over the world to see these powerful, majestic animals. On one unforgettable day, while guiding people to see these bears, Daniel encountered an injured bear that he nicknamed "Limpy." Limpy made a remarkable recovery and became the inspiration for this story. Daniel also volunteers as a firefighter with the Homer Volunteer Fire Department. He lives year round in Homer, Alaska with his wife Melissa and two young boys, Caleb and Micah.
