My Grouch and Me was inspired by my niece Haley. We were trying to think of coping techniques and ways to deal with anger, disappointment, and anxiety. By changing our focus from the negative to the positive, we were able to achieve a happier and less stressful outcome. Haley thought of the happy net, and the story grew from there.
