Charlie Skyler and his quirky friends accidentally uncover a conspiracy to reshape government by selectively eliminating politically inconvenient persons, starting with assassination of the Vice President while on a fishing trip in southcentral Alaska. Not knowing who to trust, they investigate suspicious local residents, and help thwart the effort by identifying all the Project Nemesis participants. Along the way, they face political roadblocks, not to mention multiple assassins. The unique costal town of Homer and the adjoining Kenai Peninsula provide the backdrop for their adventures.
