Y'all better be ready for rambunctious personalities, beloved rhymes, and charming illustrations on every page!

Front Jacket

Mother Goose flies way down south in this Southern take on popular nursery rhymes. The twang in this collection of forty-six poems adapted from the verses we all know and love will have readers donning their NASCARï¿1/2 caps or listening to the ole' banjo in no time.

Young'uns encounter the tales of Old Mother Hubbard pulling cornbread from her cupboard and her hound that turns down biscuits. Have a picky eater, too? Dine with Peter the praline-eater or have boiled peanuts by the sea! Meet the Mississippi mosquito that munches on grits and fried green tomatoes instead of those sweet ole' southerners and Yankee Doodle who stays down South and trades in his pony for a pickup. Find out what happens to the crawfish as they "rub-a-dub-dub" in their tub! Tap your feet to a tune or two as you read along with Little Boy Bluegrass or fiddle high and low with Boyd and Ben.

Y'all should tease your hair and get ready for a sensational journey. Whether reading one or all, these beloved rhymes ooze with charm and the clever humor of author David Davis and charming illustrations of Herb Leonhard.
