Author Biography

Alwyn Uys grew up on the East Coast of South Africa with one dream: to play professional rugby. That dream ended before it began, first with a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis at twenty-one that required the removal of his colon, then with a torn shoulder that ended his career on the field, and finally with a car accident at twenty-four that fractured his neck and left him paralyzed from the chest down.

What followed was three months in a rehabilitation center, a return home to an empty house, and a private battle with depression and suicidal thoughts. It was in that darkness that God first spoke to him clearly, and a prophetic journey began.

In the years that followed, Alwyn's spirit proved indomitable. He became the first paraplegic in South Africa to complete a full-distance Ironman triathlon in a wheelchair, and the first paraplegic in the world to swim the Robben Island crossing, an iconic 8km open water swim off the West Coast of South Africa. He is also the co-director of the documentary Against All Odds, which tells his story on film, and the author of Unbroken, his autobiography.

Today, Alwyn leads a prophetic and healing ministry where he trains and equips the body of Christ to hear the Father for themselves and to move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He ministers internationally, speaking at churches, schools, and conferences around the world. His YouTube channel has grown to over 182,000 subscribers, and his teaching on hearing God's voice reaches a global audience.
