Author Biography

Sharon "Kumuda" Janis is a filmmaker, devotional singer, and author of books including "Spirituality For Dummies," "Secrets of Spiritual Happiness," "Things that Make You Go Oooommmmm," and her memoir, "A Modern Quest For Eternal Truth," of which "Publishers Weekly" said, "In a larger sense, this memoir is a dialogue between Indian spirituality and Western psychology. The question that Janis answers in her memoir is: 'Can a westerner come to know Indian spirituality and flourish in its depths, even when it is alien to western ways of knowing?' She answers with a resounding 'yes.'"

Along with writing books, Sharon has produced positive and public service films and videos, and recorded some favorite chanting and devotional songs, including the "Glorious Bhagavad Gita Sung in English," the "Diamond Sutra Sung in English," and a popular Sanskrit rendition of "Shree Guru Gita," which are all available as free multimedia resource offerings on the Night Lotus Productions website.
