In the wake of the cognitive turn in the humanities, narrative research has become increasingly interdisciplinary. The theory of storyworld possible selves brings approaches from a range of disciplines such as cognitive narrative theory, cognitive linguistics, and social psychology, to bear on the study of narrative engagement.
