Normally to surrender is to give up, but in Field's second book of poetry, it becomes a spiritual act, a demonstration of strength in trials and uncertainty, an expression of trust in spiritual love. As with other works there are deep elements of pain and loss, inflicted by others and live. This leading to a connection with self and a deeper spiritual reality that brings back the path of existence, a path of surviving and freedom after.
