Ten Modern Quilts - Paperback
by Basil Papanastassiou (Author)
Ten Modern Quilts offers ten easy, graphic quilt patterns suitable for the experienced beginner and sophisticated enough for any quilter interested in modern and contemporary quilting. Each of the ten quilt patterns includes a picture of the finished quilt, fabric requirements, comprehensive step-by-step instructions and diagrams and illustrations of two alternate colorways. Many of Basil's students who have made quilts from the patterns in this book have gone on to make additional quilts from the same patterns in different colorways. Innovative and simplified methods for cutting and sewing braids are also covered. Based upon requests from his students, Basil included a separate chapter on designing interesting quilt backs. Ten Modern Quilts is his second book; his first is Seven Simple Sensational Modern Quilts which has been one of the top selling quilt books in his local quilt shop.
Author Biography
Basil Papanastassiou is a therapist and self-taught quilter. He designs and makes quilts, publishes quilt patterns and books, presents his quilts at various quilt guilds, and teaches quilting. He has published two quilt books, "Ten Modern Quilts" and "Seven Simple Sensational Modern Quilts". His stint working part-time at a quilt store gave him an invaluable knowledge of fabric, design, and the needs of quilters for new, innovative, and easy to sew quilt patterns (as well as giving him first crack at all the new fabric that came into the store). He is currently teaching the patterns from his book "Ten Modern Quilts" and designing new quilt patterns. One of his philosophies is "so much fabric, so little time"... as is "when you see the fabric and you love it, buy it, because in many cases when you go back for it, it's gone". He lives with his husband Burt in South Florida.
