Author Biography

Barbara, who grew up in the Kentucky Appalachians, is a strong believer in protecting the environment and in the power of storytelling. Her earliest memories include forcing her younger siblings to act out the stories she wrote. In return for their cooperation, she wrote more stories. A few decades, continents and universities later, Barbara, also an artist, horse trainer, insatiable reader and avid computer gamer, holds an MFA in Creative Writing. Barbara divides her time between Halifax, Nova Scotia and Kansas City, Missouri so she can experience the world's climate extremes on a regular basis. She lives with her husband, an inventor/entrepreneur, their youngest son-a physics student-their lap-dog collie, guard-dog Chihuahua and the Siamese cat who commands them all.
