A thorough history of Cane Creek Baptist Church, Orange County N.C., from its establishment in 1789 to the current day, including events leading up to creation of the church, and broader societal changes that have shaped our church's path.

I have deliberately decided to expand the scope of this history beyond the confines of Cane Creek Baptist Church. I could have done otherwise and created a thoroughly acceptable and much shorter history, one that would look like many other church histories. But the Cane Creek community is too old and too steeped in history for me to ignore. The things that are recorded in our minutes reflect political, social, economic forces at work both in the community and across the expanse of the state and nation. To really understand what went on in Cane Creek, it is helpful to know what was going on elsewhere.
