by G. J. Woosley (Author)

Beth never knew her father and her mother died when she was six. Now, here she was, standing in the back corner of cemetery in Renton, Washington looking at the small grave markers of her grandmother and great grandmother. They were just names on brass plates until she meets the old caretaker of the cemetery who is willing to tell her about the people resting in these graves. Hear the story of these people, along with Beth, as she finds out how rich her family history is in the part of Washington State from what is now Walla Walla to the land above the great falls at Snoqualmie. Hear of their hardships, visions for the future, and how they lived and loved.

Author Biography

I've always been fascinated by the rugged beauty that still exists in the Pacific Northwest. There are so many places that have been unspoiled by man. The pristine areas are rapidly fading because of development and progress. I've always tried to imagine what the area looked like before freeways, railways, and the arrival of logging crews. The story that follows is a fictional account of people with vision and tenacity. Although they may not have existed in real life, portions of their visions did and are still alive today. The history of this area is both remarkable and sad. With progress and development comes great loss. I'm proud to have been a resident of this area for 18 years and saw many changes during my time there. The influx of people may have been great for the economy but not for the landscape. I have only glimpsed what the native tribes must have seen more than a century ago with the passing of their customs, traditions, and way of life. The women in this story are more a part of history of this area than most people know. They were strong, determined women who couldn't play by the pre-determined rules in a man's world. It's of women who had to learn to cope with a white man's world, with the help of some visionary white men. I hope you enjoy the story that follows.
