Author Biography

Bonnie G. Rourke grew up on an island in Georgian Bay with her parents and brothers and sister. Her ancestors were pioneers of the shore. Bonnie and other children living in different places up the shore were taken to a one room school by boat in Cognashene every week day. School ended just before the Bay froze over. The last day of school ended with a Christmas Concert. Her book "Christmas on Georgian Bay" is inspired by those Christmases long ago with her family on the isolated island they called home. She now lives in a 200 year old log house in a forest between the towns of Midland and Orillia. She shares the forest with bear, fox, deer, coyotes, lots of chipmunks, squirrels, ducks in a tiny pond in the spring and even a heron from time to time. She has a great white pine and sometimes Grey Owl, after all these years comes to say hello. Bonnie is the author of "The Sea Cadet Years on Georgian Bay". She has written many articles for numerous publications over the years. Bonnie's friend and illustrator for "Christmas on Georgian Bay", Frances Hayter, grew up in Southern Ontario with her sister and brother. She is a graduate of McGill University. Frances is an accomplished Classical pianist, watercolor artist and illustrator. Her inspiration comes from enjoying the "wilds of Ontario", swimming, kayaking, canoeing and snowmobiling on Lake Muskoka. Her home is in Barrie located on Kempenfelt Bay.
