by Barbara J. Olexer (Author)

It's 1950 and Marge O'Connor is in her first year of teaching. She has the upper four grades in the two-room school at Camp Five, a logging camp attached to the mill town of Kinzua, Oregon. Deciding that she would like to ride horseback in her spare time, Marge takes a trip to Bend to buy an Appaloosa from the Happy Appy Ranch. The ninety-four-year-old owner is murdered and Marge gets caught up in the swirl of events. Someone thinks she has some deadly information and follows her home to launch a Molotov cocktail at her as she sleeps. Things go from bad to worse until Marge figures out who the killer is and takes steps.

Author Biography

Barbara J. Olexer is a fourth-generation Oregonian. She has written more than twenty books and screenplays. Her first published book was The Enslavement of the American Indian, a nonfiction account of that little-known segment of American history. Her formative years were spent in small farming towns and a backwoods logging camp. Barbara's life has been a tapestry of changes as she has lived and worked in small Oregon towns, such as Ashland, Camp Five (a logging camp that belonged to Kinzua Pine Mills), Klamath Falls, and Malin, as well as some of the country's biggest cities, such as San Francisco, Hollywood, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. On retirement, Barbara returned to the Pacific Northwest where her two grown sons and her grandchildren live. She lives in Milwaukie, Oregon, with her husband and two cats.
