A drug courier crashes his plane in a frozen lake in Yosemite's high country. Winston, a Yosemite "valley rat" on the run from killers in his home town, discovers the plane during a winter hike. Author Biography

Michael started his professional career as a Peace Corps teacher in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Grad school came next, followed by a nine-year career as a school librarian. Then came law school, after which Michael worked for 23 years in the criminal division of the California Attorney General's Office. During those years, Michael kept at his writing vocation, publishing the occasional poem, story, and memoir.
