While comparing class schedules on the first day of school with her friend Will, Elle is distracted by Nate, a new boy at school. But as a typical eighth grader, she lacks the confidence to talk to the object of her crush. To top it off, the memories of being teased as a Kindergartener, and the secret she's been keeping since then, make her even more nervous as she starts the new school year. Nate's parents' recent divorce turns his life upside down. He's got a new home, a new school, and a new friend. Plus, he's trying to keep up with his school work while helping to take care of his younger brother. When he meets Elle, the shy boy doesn't have the courage to tell her how he feels. Throughout the school year, the pair become friendly, despite a series of mishaps and misunderstandings. But their relationship stalls until Will intervenes. Will one of them finally take a chance on romance before the year is over? My Eighth Grade (almost) Romance is told in alternating chapters by Elle and Nate themselves. Recommended for ages 9 to 12.

Author Biography

K.Tibbetts lives in Southeastern Pennsylvania with three kids, four cats, and a husband. She holds a BFA from Arcadia University with a major in metals and jewelry. The arts have always been a driving force in her life, however, formal writing is a relatively new endeavor. Inspired by the students with whom she works during her day job, her first book deals with some of the social issues faced by today's young teens. Through her writing, she hopes to combine her passion for creativity and her love of educating children. She is currently in the process of penning two more novels for young adults.
