by Rebecca Bretz (Illustrator), Waldo W. Montgomery Jr (Author)

1917 -- the United States enters the war against Germany. At various places in Virginia, such as Camp Lee near Petersburg and Langley Field near Newport News, thousands of young men receive basic military training prior to going "over there" to engage the enemy. For one small group of unsuspecting American doughboys, however, "over there" becomes a place frighteningly different as they are suddenly transported back in time to the last days of the Civil War.

Author Biography

Waldo W. Montgomery, Jr., a former resident of Petersburg, Virginia, became an avid Civil War buff, in part, because both he and his wife had ancestors who fought on the side of the Confederacy at Petersburg. His Army career as a Quartermaster officer included two tours of duty at Fort Lee, Virginia. He retired at Fort Hood, settled in Belton, Texas, and served on the staff of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Now fully retired, he pursues his interest in writing. Over There is his second novel.
